Protect, Prevent, Act Together

In our culture, health is a precious value, and each person’s responsibility contributes to protecting the entire community. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV exist in every country and can affect anyone in a relationship. Clear and respectful information helps protect oneself, protect one’s home, and act quickly when needed.

In Guinea, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV remain a reality. Many people have no symptoms and do not know they are infected, which can put their health, their partner, and their family at risk. Prevention and regular testing are therefore essential.

AMS supports its partners and their teams at every stage: information, guidance, testing, and medical care.

Condom Use: An Essential Protection Tool

Condoms remain the most effective way to reduce the risk of transmitting most STIs and HIV. They are recommended whenever additional protection is needed.

They are available in all pharmacies and authorized points of sale.

Even when using protection, no method offers zero risk—this is why regular testing is so important.

Testing: Simple, Discreet, and Essential

A person can carry an STI without showing any visible symptoms. Testing is the only way to know for sure.

It helps:

  • ensure early treatment,
  • prevent complications,
  • protect one’s partner,
  • preserve long-term health.

At Medical SOS, testing is:

  • ✔ confidential,
  • ✔ performed by experienced professionals,
  • ✔ supported with personalized medical advice.

PEP: Emergency Treatment After a Potential Exposure

In case of unprotected intercourse or serious doubt, there is an emergency treatment called PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis).

It is most effective when started quickly—ideally within 4 hours, and no later than 48 hours after exposure.

PEP is available in certain medical centers in Conakry. In an emergency, contact Medical SOS immediately: our team will guide you on where and how to access treatment as quickly as possible.

Living with HIV: Modern Treatments Allow a Normal Life

In Guinea, effective treatments are available today that allow individuals to:

  • reduce viral load,
  • maintain good health,
  • prevent progression to AIDS,
  • significantly lower the risk of transmission when treatment is followed correctly.

Medical SOS supports patients with:

  • diagnosis,
  • medical follow-up,
  • referral to specialized structures when needed.
